Russian Doll’s Charlie Barnett to open macabre new musical, The Mountain Digby, in Los Angeles
Los Angeles, CA -- RCB Entertainment (Barnett’s production company) will open The Mountain Digby, a dark new one-act musical that she show’s creators deem “too f***ed up for the Grimms Brothers”, at the Hudson Theater Mainstage (6539 Santa Monica Blvd) on Friday, March 13.
Written by Cassie Ahiers (Nickelodeon’s Side Hustle), Anthony Lombard and John Lombard with music by Brad Kemp (NBC’s Bring The Funny), The Mountain Digby follows the story of two outcast worm farmers, Robbie and Nyle Digby, as they fight to turn their hill into a mountain and save their family’s land, no matter the cost - or body count.
This gruesome comedy will feature live shadow puppetry by internationally award-winning shadow puppet artist Karly Bergmann and choreography by Kristen Bernier. Drew Bender (HBO’s Barry) is the scenic designer and Alice Stanley (Netflix’s MOXIE, E!’s Busy Tonight) serves as dramaturg.
Cassie Ahiers, a Second City Alumni Director, will also direct the impressive young cast which features: Anthony Lombard, Brock Harris (Lifetime’s American Princess), Rashawn Scott (Comedy Central’s Southside), E.R. Fightmaster (Hulu’s Shrill), Charlie Barnett (Netflix’s Russian Doll, YOU, Tales of the City), Lauran September (HBO’s Sharp Objects), Golden Garnick, Tyler Davis (Showtime’s Work in Progress), Ian Bratschie (FX’s CAKE), Susan Glynn and Erin Rein. Alex Kliner, another Second City alum, will music direct. Cassie Ahiers, Anthony Lombard and Alex Kliner join Barnett as producers.
The show will feature a different celebrity guest star at every performance to be announced in March.
