World Premiere Transversal Theater Company, praised by European theatre luminaries
Notable director, Robert Cohen to direct Bryan Reynolds’ extraordinary production

Runs May 22nd through June 27th, 2009

(Los Angeles, CA) (March, 2009)... The Field Station presents the Transversal Theater production of a modern fable, EVE’S RAPTURE, coming to The Hayworth Theatre beginning May 22nd, 2009.

About The Show

God’s creations run amok and the Garden goes to Hell. Adam loves too much, but domestic life is not Eve’s thing. When something more exciting and dangerous comes along, there is no stopping Eve’s insatiable lust for knowledge, power, and experience. With angels at war and Eve in the crossfire, Eve’s Rapture is an action comedy where the unexpected keeps happening and ironies are fired like bullets.

Eve’s Rapture is the sixth play by Bryan Reynolds that the Transversal Theater Company has produced and the third that Robert Cohen has directed. Transversal Theater has toured all of its productions in Europe.

Director Robert Cohen regularly stages classic plays at the Utah and Colorado Shakespeare Festivals, and has directed over a hundred productions – mostly of new and current drama - at other venues around the world, including world premieres in Boston, New York, Los Angeles, Hollywood, Prague, Wroclaw, Bucharest, and Brisbane. His books include Acting Power, Acting in Shakespeare, Acting Professionally and Theatre; his plays include Machiavelli (at the Hayworth), and his translations include Jean Verdun’s Tibi’s Law (at Hollywood's Stages Theatre Center). He is also the longtime southern California drama critic for the London bi-monthly, Plays International.
Playwright Bryan Reynolds has had several plays produced by the Transversal Theater Company, all of which have toured internationally. His most recent musical, Lumping in Fargo, written with composer Michael Hooker, also appeared in the 2008 Los Angeles New American Music Theatre Festival. His play Blue Shade is currently in repertory at the Romanian National Theatre in Cluj, and is making its Netherlands premiere this fall in Amsterdam. For additional information, go to:

Praise for Transversal Theater Company by European theatre luminaries:

“I was genuinely and immensely impressed by the show. The director handled the work in a masterly manner, the acting was superb, so was the text – intelligent, funny and illuminating. . . . Theirs is an original kind of theatre that brings the margins and center together to please and inspire diverse audiences. On top of everything I have said so far, it is worth stressing that the productions I saw in Wrocław and Gdańsk revealed the artistic quality that is not at all that easy to find in the USA.”
– Jerzy Limon, Artistic Director, The Gdańsk Shakespearean Theatre and Festival, Poland

“It is my pleasure to comment on the Transversal Theatre Company. Let me say right off that I am immensely impressed by the company and their playwright Dr. Bryan Reynolds. I give them my highest endorsement. I believe that their art is excellent and quite groundbreaking in the different tactics they use to merge social and aesthetic theory with stimulating narrative through well-crafted staged action. . . . I have every reason to expect that Transversal Theatre’s popularity will continue to grow at the impressive speed at which they have already become a name in Europe within five years.”
– Director Mihai Măniuţiu, Romanian National Theatre, Cluj, Romania

“I have known the Transversal Theater Company since I saw their production of Bryan Reynolds' play Unbuckled in 2004. Having recognized their extraordinary talent and potential to be an important contribution to the history of theater in Europe, I offered to help produce them in Poland. Since then I have collaborated with them in coproducing three of their tours to Poland. Each of these tours was successful, with each subsequent tour radically increasing their popularity across the country. . . . One could say that Transversal Theater Company is making its mark on Western theater history.”
– Joanna Klass, Producing Director, Grotowski Institute, Wrocław, Poland
