EMILY ABELES (Ensemble; u/s Mia, Leena) Emily Abeles is an LA based actress, singer, and dancer who is so incredibly ecstatic to be making her Broadwater debut alongside such a talented. cast and crew. Passionate about celebrating empathy as a form of strength, Emily aspires to represent underestimated characters and stories. After all, "the privilege of a lifetime is being who you are, truly, who you are" (truth spoken by Miss Viola Davis). Emily is also a graduate of UC Irvine's BFA in Musical Theater, and is most known for her roles in The Little Mermaid (Ariel), Anne Shirley (Anne of Green Gables), The Mistress (Evita), Thoroughly Modern Millie (Millie), and Candace in the new media pilot, The Fallen. When not performing, Emily loves writing, cooking, gardening, challenging her puppetry skills, hanging with her pup, Hashbrown, and has a firm belief that the perfect cup of coffee can cure all woes. She'd also like to thank her family, friends, and manager, Darlene Kaplan, for their continual support. All glory to God.
LUCAS ALIFANO* (Viktor Kuznetsov) Lucas Alifano most recently starred opposite Rob Morrow in Death of a Salesman at the Ruskin Group Theater. He has also worked theatrically with The American Conservatory Theater, The Marin Theater Company, The Magic Theater, TheaterWorks, Marin Shakespeare Company, Primary Stages, Show Palace Theater, Colorado Shakespeare Festival, Ruckus Rockwell, Two Cents Theater, The Western Stage, Sacred Fools Theater, and Shakespeare Santa Cruz, among others. TV credits include the CBS series Ghost Whisperer and The Young and the Restless, among others. Feature credits include The Lost Coast (SXSW & Venice Film Festival), Plastic Soup, Detention, and the horror thriller Fear Not. Lucas is a proud member of Actors’ Equity, holds an M.F.A. from The American Conservatory Theater, and is co-founder of The Unknown Artists. MELANIE AU-YEUNG (Ensemble) Melanie Au-Yeung is so grateful to be a part of Singing Revolution. JAMES EVERTS (Taavi Tamm) James was born and raised in Salt Lake City, Utah and is a graduate from AMDA College of the Performing Arts. Recent Credits include: George (The Actor's Nightmare), Fred Casely (Chicago), Davey (Newsies). James is so excited to help bring this show to life beside this talented team. KRISTA FEALLOCK (Leena Rebane) Krista is so happy to be a part of Singing Revolution. MICHAEL SCOTT HARRIS* (Nikolai Solokov) Michael Scott Harris is excited to be performing in another new work with Theatre Planners. He last collaborated with them in the world premiere of Shooting Star (James Grant) at The Hudson. He was most recently seen in Annie (Daddy Warbucks) and The Count of Monte Cristo (Villefort) with Tuacahn this summer. Other regional credits include Ragtime (Father) with Musical Theatre West, The Sound of Music (Capt. von Trapp) and Peter Pan (Capt. Hook) with the Anchorage Concert Association, South Pacific (Emile de Becque) with the Utah Shakespeare Festival, Mary Poppins (George Banks) with 5 Star Theatricals, and The Broadway National Tour of The Phantom of the Opera (Piangi). Off Broadway he starred with the New York Gilbert and Sullivan Players in The Pirates of Penzance (Frederic), The Mikado (Nanki-Poo), H.M.S. Pinafore (Ralph), among many others. MITCHELL LAM HAU (Ensemble) Mitchell Lam Hau is a Los Angeles based actor from Fresno, California represented by The Movement: Talent Agency. He received his Bachelors of Art in Theatre, with an emphasis on Acting, from the California State University, Fresno. He went on to study for two more years with the Pacific Conservatory for the Performing Arts. Since graduation he has worked regionally and internationally, and his recent credits include M1 Lead Soloist on the AIDAprima, Hector Torres in the YouTube mini series The Crooked Tower, and various roles at the Great American Melodrama and Vaudeville. He is unbelievably stoked to be doing live theatre again, everyone stay safe!
THOMAS HOLLOW (Ensemble; u/s Stalin, Rasmus, Viktor) Thomas Hollow is thrilled to be a part of Singing Revolution! He received his BA in Vocal Performance from UCLA studying in the studio of the world renowned Vladimir Chernov. He has toured internationally as a classical vocalist. Since graduation, he has transitioned into performing musical theater. Thomas has a long history of performing new works, such as his portrayal of Jack Chesney in the first American debut of Charley’s Aunt. Recently he has been seen as the flamboyant Jazzercise instructor, Brawq, in the Netflix production of The Stranger Things Drive-Into Experience. He has begun a dive into the world of film and television acting in films such as the award winning American Dream, festival selected Balloon, as well as Obsolete and more. BRANDON KALLEN (Ensemble; u/s Nikolai, Gorbachev, Lenin) Brandon Kallen’s Regional Credits include: La Cage aux Folles at Cygnet, Singin’ in the Rain with Candlelight Pavilion, Newsies, White Christmas, Mary Poppins and Les Mis with Theatre Royale, Peter Pan and Ragtime with Performance Riverside, and Anne of Green Gables with The Chance Theatre. MARISSA RUTH MAYER (Ensemble; u/s Sofia) Marissa is a Los Angeles native and so grateful to be a part of this production, with this kind and talented cast and team. Marissa received her BA in Musical Theatre, and Dance Minor, from Point Park University in Pittsburgh, PA. PETER VAN NORDEN* (Mikhail Gorbachev) 2019 Ovation Award for Best Actor in Harold Pinter’s THE HOTHOUSE at the Antaeus Thr. Co. Recent appearances include RED INK (2020 Ovation nomination for Best Featured Actor) at Playwright’s Arena and covering Tom Hanks and performing the role of Falstaff for the LA Shakespeare Center’s HENRY IV, PARTS I AND II. At La Mirada Theatre he recently appeared in 1776 (as Ben Franklin) and Singin’ in the Rain. For 3 years at The Rubicon Thr. he played Ebeneezer Scrooge in A CHRISTMAS CAROL. Peter was the first American actor to play the title role in Mike Bartlett’s KING CHARLES III at Arizona Thr. Co. TONY SPINOSA (Concept, Book, Lyrics & Music) Tony Spinosa is a producer, stage director, choreographer, writer, arts leader, and performer. He has directed over fifty theatrical productions across the United States. At a very early age, Tony was mentored by theatre legend Michael Bennett and made his Broadway debut in PETER PAN at the Marriott Marquis Theatre. Tony became the Resident Director of the Tony Award-winning Broadway revival of LA CAGE AUX FOLLES starring Douglas Hodge & Kelsey Grammer. He has produced numerous events for Broadway Cares, Theatre Development Fund and The Actors Fund, including the recent mega-hits THOROUGHLY MODERN MILLIE and BOMBSHELL IN CONCERT at the Minskoff Theatre, [TITLE OF SHOW] IN CONCERT at the Broadhurst, and THEY’RE PLAYING OUR SONG IN CONCERT at the Music Box. As a director/choreographer, Tony’s award-winning work includes NEWSIES, WEST SIDE STORY and CATS at the Herberger Theatre Center in Phoenix, Arizona, CHARLIE CHANG AND THE MYSTERIOUS SALAMI at the New York City Cringe Festival. JAMES BEARHART (Book & Lyrics) Originally from Ireland, James Bearhart is a first generation US immigrant, and is an actor, director and playwright. James most recently performed in a gender-swapped production of HAMLET at The Tank Theater, Manhattan. A first time musical book writer, James’ experience in storytelling comes from years working in the design industry. James has a Master of Design from Central Saint Martins in London, and a Certificate in Screenwriting from UCLA. James was born in a small village called Enniscorthy, Ireland (home of writer Colm Toibin and Bauhaus designer Eileen Grey), has traveled the world, and is the first in his extended family to become a naturalized US citizen. His experience of many cultures and their approaches to storytelling gives him an understanding of what makes a great, universal, story.
TRACEY BENSON (Choreographer) Tracey Benson is from Brisbane Australia and worked professionally for 16 years across many different genres of dance in the entertainment industry. Tracey formally trained in classical dance, jazz, hip hop, commercial and various aerial apparatus and over the years gained experience in performing, creating, teaching, directing, choreography, staging, live shows, theatre, circus and commercial work. Her credits include: Carnival Cruise Lines, Royal Caribbean and Celebrity Cruises for over 10 contracts travelling and working on multifaceted large-scale production shows as performer, aerialist and dance captain and then audition choreographer. Tracey performed one of the Showgirl's for Europe’s largest Christmas show ‘Thursford Christmas Spectacular’, and played the role of Penny Johnson in Secret Cinemas 'Dirty Dancing' in London. She also performed with Kylie Minogue and did special events with Kevan Allen. Tracey was selected as an aerialist and a dancer for the resident show 'Destiny' at the MGM Grand in Macau China under the choreographic direction of Travis Payne. She was then invited to choreograph the opening of the Bellagio Hotel in Shanghai and Explore Spectacular MGM grand opening events. Her most recent credits include the European Arena Tour Avatar- 'Toruk the First Flight' with Cirque Du Soleil and was contracted to work with Susan Stroman and Broadway Asia for the Kung Fu Panda Spectacular which was to commence in 2020- which was cancelled due to the pandemic. During this time Tracey gained a dual diploma in Leadership and Management, Business Administration and Professional Pilates Instruction whilst continuing to teach at prestigious dance schools across Brisbane Australia. Tracey recently moved to Los Angeles in July 2021 and commenced working as the Movement Director for Secret Cinema's immersive production of ‘Arcane’ due to open in November.
BRENT CRAYON (Musical Director) Brent Crayon is a music director and pianist based in Los Angeles. He has collaborated with many notable artists such as Stephen Schwartz, Jason Robert Brown, Daisy Prince, John Caird, Paul Gordon, Richard Maltby, Jr., and John Bucchino.
Favorite theatrical productions include the West Coast premieres of First Date, Songs For a New World and Tick, Tick…BOOM!, as well as the world premiere productions of Stephen Schwartz’s Snapshots, John Bucchino’s It’s Only Life, and Bubble Boy, The Musical. Internationally, Brent has music directed and performed in Tokyo, Japan, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and Edinburgh, Scotland. Currently, Brent can be seen and heard in McCoy Rigby’s production of A Night With Janis Joplin streaming on Broadway HD.
MICHAEL DONOVAN, CSA (Casting Director) Michael is the recipient of 9 Artios awards, presented by the Casting Society of America for Outstanding Achievement in casting. He has cast shows produced at the Ahmanson Theatre, Hollywood Bowl, Pasadena Playhouse, the Kirk Douglas Theatre, Walt Disney Concert Hall, the Geffen Playhouse, International City Theatre, La Jolla Playhouse, the Getty Villa, the Ricardo Montalban Theatre, the Theatre at Boston Court, the 24th St. Theatre, San Francisco Symphony, Arizona Theatre Company, both the Palazzo Theatre and Paris Theatre in Las Vegas, the Kentucky Shakespeare Festival and more. His credits also include numerous films, over 1,000 commercials, and multiple TV series. Michael, who also teaches at UCLA, is President of the Foundation for New American Musicals, and serves on the Board for Camp Bravo.
DAVID GOLDSTEIN (Scenic Designer) David Goldstein is happy to be working with Theatre Planners in Los Angeles, after designing DEFENDERS and FOOL FOR LOVE. LA Credits include: Spring Awakening for Gun Safety, Elevator, Playground, Rocky Horror, and others. ANDREW SCHMEDAKE (Lighting Designer) Andrew Schmedake is an award-winning lighting designer for theater, dance and live events. In the COVID era, he has pivoted his career into producing virtual events and technical direction of remote studios across the country for live, digital performances. Past credits include collaborations with Snoop Dogg and Leslie Odom Jr. through Little Cinema Digital, Daybreaker, Pixel Playhouse, Center Theatre Group, South Coast Repertory, Gabriel Iglesias, After Hours Theatre Company, and Antaeus Theatre Company. Andrew holds an MFA from Carnegie Mellon University and lectures on lighting design at UC Santa Barbara.
ALEX JAEGER (Costume Designer) Alex designs costumes for theaters across the country including: The Public Theater, The Guthrie, Oregon Shakespeare Festival, Mark Taper Forum, Kirk Douglas Theater, A.C.T. in San Francisco, South Coast Repertory, Geffen Playhouse, The Theatre @ Boston Court, The Studio D.C. , Magic Theatre San Francisco, Pioneer Theatre in Salt Lake City, The Children’s Theater in Minneapolis, Great Lakes Theater Festival in Cleveland, The Rubicon in Ventura, The Ensemble in Santa Barbara and the Village Theatre in Seattle. CRICKET S. MYERS (Sound Designer) On Broadway, Cricket earned a Tony Nomination and a Drama Desk Award for her design of Bengal Tiger at the Baghdad Zoo. Off Broadway designs include The Marvelous Wonderettes. She has also designed regionally at The Geffen Playhouse, La Jolla Playhouse, The Ahmanson, The Mark Taper Forum, Berkeley Rep, Arena Stage, South Coast Rep, The Kirk Douglas Theater, and the Pasadena Playhouse. Other selected L.A. designs include East West Players, NoHo Arts Center, Ghost Road Theater Company, and The Celebration Theater. She has earned 20 Ovation Nominations, as well as winning The Kinetic Award for Outstanding Achievements in Theatrical Design, an LADCC and a Garland Award.
