PATRICK BACA CSA (Casting Director- Associate Producer) Patrick Baca, CSA, (Casting Director, Associate Producer) casts Feature Films, Television, Theatre, Comedy.Patrick cast Jeff Gould’s previous three plays to critical acclaim and is happy to collaborate with Jeff yet again on Jeff's fourth comedy. Other L.A. stage casting credits include Gary Goldstein’s Three Grooms and a Bride, Parental Discretion, as well as End of the World Party, Morticians in Love, Deporting the Divas (Actors Theatre, Louisville), Supernormal Clutches, CyberQueer, Chilean Holiday, Party, The Ballad of Little Mikey and Club Hell -- that won him a DramaLogue Award for Casting Direction. Patrick began his career as an actor and starred in the Academy Award nominated feature “Stand and Deliver” opposite Edward James Olmos, Andy Garcia and Lou Diamond Phillips. He is a five time CSA Artios Award™ nominee for his work in casting. In 2011, he won the Talent Manager Association’s Feature Film Casting Director of the Year Award.
JEFF GOULD (Director) “The Marriage Zone" is Jeff's 4th play. His other plays are "It's Just Sex", "Troubled Waters", and "Is There Sex After Marriage?". All of them were critically acclaimed and had enormously successful runs in Los Angeles. "It's Just Sex" has been published and has played all over the world, including Off Broadway in New York, Denver, San Diego Austin, Greece, Brazil, New Zealand, Australia...."Is There Sex After Marriage?" played for 7 months in 2014 in Studio City. However, Jeff’s longest running production to date was his divorce, which lasted for 31 smash months. While they were together, he, and his ex, developed a husband and wife stand-up routine and they were actually hired one time to perform it at a local wedding. Between missing work and hiring a babysitter, it cost them less than $500 for the gig. Jeff has had many articles published in the “Card Player” Magazine based on his career as a long time professional poker player. He has also acted in numerous plays throughout the Los Angeles area.
SHEN HECKEL (Stage manager) Shen Heckel (Stage Manager) is a theatre professional from the Los Angeles area. He graduated from UCLA's school of Theatre, Film, and Television and is an alumnus of both the Lincoln Center Directors Lab and Los Angeles Directors Lab. He has worked in all aspects of theatre, some previous projects include Director of Next Thing You Know, assistant director of We Are the Tigers, and The Dodgers. He also was Lighting Designer of Twelfth Night, R&J, and A Winters Tale with Mine is Your Theatre co. Venue stage manger at Asylum-Annex theatre for 2017 Hollywood fringe festival, Assistant Stage Manager of Recorded in Hollywood, Properties Master of Dog Fight, Assassins, The Reunion, Corktown 57 and Taming of the Shrew. J.KENT INSAY (Lighting Design)
ALLISON SCHENKER (Scene Designer) Allison Schenker (Scene Designer) is very thrilled to have been a part of this production. She works primarily as a Production Designer in film and television and is currently designing Season 9 of the ID Network show Unusual Suspects. Originally from Virginia, she has been studying theatre and the arts since she was 12. She studied Scene Design at Illinois State University before moving to California five years ago. She considers herself fortunate to be able to work in both of the fields she loves: film and theatre. Allison’s previous scenic designs include Is There Sex After Marriage? at the Two Roads Theatre in Studio City; It's the Biz! at the Promenade Playhouse in Santa Monica; Resurrection of the Ants at the Hayworth Studio Theatre in LA; Top Girls with Twenty Percent in Chicago; The Three Sisters, Our Town, Othello's Passion: A Kabuki Play, and Anna in the Tropics at Illinois State University. Her properties credits include work on Dorian's Descent at the DOMA Theatre in LA; The Producers and La Cage Aux Folles at Theatre at the Center in Indiana; Don Giovanni and Orlando at Chicago Opera Theatre; and Heat Wave and Jitney at Pegasus Players in Chicago. She credits her success to her wonderful parents and friends, who always encouraged her to pursue her career in the arts. She wants to thank them for believing in her and helping her every step of the way.

PHIL SOKOLOFF (Publicist) Phil Sokoloff is L.A.'s most active theatre publicist , representing over 100 live attractions annually throughout Los Angeles County, as well as several dozen independent films. Also an actor, he appears in the recently released family film "The Bandit Hound."

ANNE LEIGHTON (Beth) Anne Leighton (Beth) Anne discovered her passion for performing arts in the ballet theatre as a
young girl. In her early teens, Anne’s family moved to the Middle East, where she attended the
British Academy and was drawn to performing in musical and dance productions, such as
Grease, Smike and Nicholas Nickelby. After returning to the US, Anne attended high school and
the University of Washington in Seattle, where she earned a Bachelor’s Degree. She went on to
hone her acting skills in New York City, performing with The Barrow Group Theatre Company,
before moving to Los Angeles, where she began work in lm. Recent lm credits include studio
lm GANGSTER SQUAD with Josh Brolin and Ryan Gosling; HYBRIDS, a comedy lm
co-starring Paul Sorvino; and recent television credits that include a recurring role as Rachel
Wood in GRIMM; CSI:Cyber with Patricia Arquette; NASHVILLE with Oliver Hudson; and Tom
Ellis and Lauren German in LUCIFER.
JEFF PRIDE (Cal) Jeff Pride was born in Madagascar and reared in Rangoon, educated at the Chaz Dean Studio and was recurring on
the Television Show America’s Most Wanted. He is thrilled to be making his Off Broadway debut at the Secret Rose
RENE ASHTON (Beth) René Ashton is a woman of multiple talents and interests. Her passion for acting has landed her more than 100 commercials and dozens of network television shows. Not only does René act, she writes her own material. Her first film, the romantic comedy, BE MY BABY starring herself and Lacey Chabert is available on DVD and television worldwide. In 2010 she had three features optioned which lead her to form her own production company, Abundant Media, LLC. Since then René has joined the WGA and written and produced three spec television pilots. MILF MONEY, starring herself and Missi Pyle, won 10 out of 13 festivals entered. SPERM DONOR stars Alan Thicke, Missi Pyle, David Liesure, Simon Rex, and René. ACTORS ANONYMOUS, starring herself, Sally Kirkland and Lorenzo Lamas won the 3 festivals entered including an offer for a development deal with VH1. Directing seemed to be the next natural course of things so René wrote, produced and directed the short film, SERIAL DATER, the web series, 40'S & FAILING and she just completed the horror short, THE CANDLE with Elaine Hendrix which is a proof of concept for the feature. With three other pilots in development, DREAMWEAVER, HISPANICA, and HEAVEN'S WAITNG ROOM with Ed Asner and Dawn Wells, René still finds time to focus on her feature scripts as well. Her comedic drama, BOY’S NAME, is next in the pipeline. René has taken another direction with her writing skills, penning books. LIGHTS, CAMERA… YOU! MEGAN BARKER (Ellie) Megan Barker (Ellie) is excited to be a part of this fantastic team! Originally from Arkansas, she moved to Los Angeles after graduating from Hendrix College with a BA in Theatre and in Psychology. Of her many college plays, she most enjoyed her roles in For the Love of the Nightingale (Philomele) and The Typists (Sylvia). Since coming to LA, she has been in several short films, and several small play productions. Last year she debuted at Hollywood Fringe with Sweet Love, Adieuand In the Garage series with Studio C Artists. This year she was Deborah Franklin in the award winning comedy, Martha Washington Killed a Redcoat. When she is not on stage herself, you can find her backstage making costumes. CIARAN BROWN Ciaran Brown is an actor based in Los Angeles hailing from Louisville, KY. In Louisville Ciaran worked in theatres such as the Actors Theatre of Louisville, Walden Theatre, and his high school, The Youth Performing Arts School. This is his first theatre production in Los Angeles and he is thrilled to be working on stage again after a long spell of working on commercial and film sets.
RYAN CARGILL (Skip) Ryan Cargill is an Actor known for WITs Academy and various other television, stage, and film work. He’s also a Writer/Director who enjoys developing new projects. His Web-series “JaxandJames” will be on youtube later this year and you can Follow his social media handle (ryan_cargill7) to keep up with it and the other projects.
LIAM DONAFEE (Skip- Understudy) Liam Donafee is an LA based actor from Cleveland, Ohio. Who first found his love for acting by starting his own YouTube channel, posting short comedy sketches and now food vlogs or recipes. Shortly after he won first in the state of Ohio for video production and 13th in the nation, he realized he liked being in front of the camera more so than behind the camera. After the discovery of his new passion he moved to Los Angeles right out of high school at 18 years old and has been working in many commercials, tv shows and short films such as SOFI, Samsung, Betrayed and many more.
ALEX HYDE-WHITE (Mike) Alex Hyde-White (Mike) last played the Secret Rose in Chekhov Studios production of "Of Mice and Men" in 2005. Other L.A. theatre includes "Marat/Sade" and "Antigone" at the Underground Theatre, "Jefferson and Franklin" at Greystone Manor and "Female of the Species" at the Geffen. Film work includes: "Pretty Woman", "Catch Me If You Can", "Fantastic Four", "Gods and Generals" and "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade." Recent TV work: "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.", "Shameless", "NCIS." A veteran of over 100 shows, having started as one of the last contract players at Universal Studios in 1980, with some theatre and film work in New York ("Kingdoms" on Broadway), England ("Biggles", "The First Olympics") and the occasional staged reading ("Troubled Waters" by the young playwright Jeff Gould mid-1990's.) Produced the indie film "Pursuit of Happiness (2000)", Directed and Produced "Three Days of Hamlet (2012)" - a "fantasy documentary" where a troupe of actors and others rehearse and perform the classic play over a three-day period, filmed at Joe Stern's Matrix Theatre, with wonderful cinematography by J. Kent Inasy.
KENNY JOHNSTON (Cal) Kenny has an extensive theater background both in New York and Los Angeles. He studies at the Groundlings school of improv and the Actors Studio west. After having Studied with Uta Hagen and Herbert Berghof as a young teen in NYC, he moved to Los Angeles where he has appeared in many T.V. shows that include “Law and Order”, “General Hospital”, playing ‘The Flash’ in the CBS pilot “The Justice League”, and a list of others. His film credits include “Scenes of the Crime” w/Jeff Bridges, “Heli” which took the best director award at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival, and this years “The Untamed” which won the Golden Lion award for best director at the Venice Film Festival. His role as Aaron in the Los Angeles stage production of “A Still Small Voice” earned him an L.A. Theater Awards best actor nomination. Kenny is thrilled to be a part of “The Marriage Zone” –(insert Twilight Zone theme music) and would like to thank the cast, the crew, and the patron’s that come out to see it.
DAWN JOYAL (Liz- Understudy) Dawn Joyal (LIZ) Last appeared on-stage as Patty in the Fringe hit, Starf*cking. Thanks to Patrick Baca for casting her in both that role, as well as this one. Wednesday nights you can find Dawn working out with Patrick Bristow and his disparate band of Improvisers. She can also currently be seen on TV descending an escalator in the oft-running REPATHA commercial and on Netflix as Francine in Girlboss. She has also appeared in 2 Broke Girls last season as Janice, the woman we are all fairly certain, lives in the laundromat.
JACEE JULE (Liz) Jacee Jule was born in Iron River, Michigan. The potpourri of her heritage is a mixture of German, Italian and Chippewa Indian.When she was about six months old, her family began their cross-country trek to Los Angeles, Ca. After a settling period, it was time for her to get her first job. She started performing on stage singing and playing guitar with her pet Capuchin monkey in tow. She was three. The monkey was even younger! When she was a little bit older she added Jazz and Tap dancing to her stage act. The monkey retired. A series of commercials such as Windsor Bicycle, a German soft drink, Mattel Toys and the Gap, eventually lead her to roles on 3rd Rock from the Sun, General , and as “Ellen” on Days Of Our Lives where she also served as the dialogue coach for the other cast members of the show. She tries to keep her acting skills sharp by doing live theater and independent films whenever she can. On the film scene, she was the “Lady in Red” character in The Agent and is also the lead in the short films Good Grief, and Mismatched. She recently completed a short film with Mel Gibson. She also did a feature called “LADRON” with Amadeus Pictures. She recently completed the third season of a web series called Miss Behave. She was the spokes model and face for WANNAWEAR by Tina O and just completed a pilot called Toasted. Her latest credit is a web series called Acting Dead.

ZACH LOUIS (Ryan- understudy) Zach Louis is a film and television actor, stand-up comedian, and improv comedy performer. He is best known for playing "Quiet Chris" on the Nickelodeon series "Bella and the Bulldogs" as well as the feature film "Marshall the Miracle Dog". Zach has been a cast member at the Second City theatre in Hollywood and regularly performs stand-up comedy at venues throughout Los Angeles. Zach is also a giant comic book nerd. Like "could tell you the horsepower of the Batmobile" nerd (it's 10,000).
BRITT ROSE (Ellie- Understudy) Britt Rose (Ellie) Midwest born and raised, this corn town girl has been acting, singing, and dancing since she was 5! After landing scholarships to both NYC and LA for acting, she soon moved to LA to master the lm side of her craft. Britt’s comedy experience flourished when she performed at Second City with the TMI cast. From there, she went on to do Funny or Die sketches, trained at Groundlings, and has gone up to 501 at UCB. In her short time here in LA, Britt has tackled a wide array of projects varying from a Kanye West & Jay Z music video, an audio book series called “We’re Alive Lockdown” with Steven Weber, and a co- star, as Leslie on Nickelodeon’s “Game Shakers.” You can catch her latest dramatic thriller feature, “Medusa” that debuted at Laemmle Theaters and just hit stores last month.

MARKE SANDE (Mike- Understudy) Mark Sande has appeared in Los Angeles as Dennis in the nine-month run of Jewtopia at the Greenway Court, Mason in Survival Exercise, which he co-produced at the Elephant, and Dorn in the Chekhov International production of The Seagull at Art/Works. He is an Associate member of Sacred Fools, where he played James in Padraic Duffy’s Past Time. His television credits include Criminal Minds, General Hospital and Suburgatory, and he can currently be seen in Snatchers on A graduate of Syracuse University's Department of Drama and UCLA’s Anderson School of Management, Mark is currently working on a screenplay about a man whose left and right sides of his brain are at war with each other. He is grateful to freeway motorists who move to the right when not passing.
